What is a SAG wagon?

SAG stands for "Support and Gear" wagon and we are running 2 of them for our cycling tour. One of our vehicles, affectionately known as the "ice cream truck" or "taco truck", was generously donated by Tasco Security, Inc. The other vehicle is Story's Honda CRV with a dual bike rack on the hitch. There is a teacher driver schedule for each day and drivers switch at lunch time so they can cycle for half of the day. Riding and camping with 16 people means ALOT of gear: 7 tents 16 sleeping bags and pads 16 individual clothing/gear bags 2 full size coolers 2 playmate coolers 2 gatorade water jugs 1 plastic bin that contains the kitchen 2 coleman camp stoves and multiple propane canisters 1 "bin of everything" 2 bins of tools and bike parts 1 bin of electronics and charging stations for bike lights and teacher phones multiple shopping bags organized with each night's dinner recipe and non-perishable foods 2 laundry bags 1 ...

Days 4 and 5 Back in Vermont

We've had two relatively flat ride days since I last posted the photos of the morning of Day 4. Thursday we started at Cumberland Bay State Park in Plattsburgh, NY and ended at the home of Sarah Stearns in Swanton, VT. The part of the route that stood out for some was crossing the bridge back into Vermont. Little hills seemed like big ones to some...how quickly we forget what true climbing is!! Each day was quite hot, so we are thankful we are never far from the water. One of three turtles spotted along the path towards Sarah's house. Our stay at Sarah's was truly a high point for everyone! As you can see from the photos we were treated like royalty and loved every minute of it! That night some slept through the thunderstorms in their tents while about half of us ended up on the floor in the living room. "Gondola Rides by Andrew" Could be the only time we get EVERYONE in the water.--it was finally a hot day and the water...

Day 1 -- South Burlington to Button Bay State Park

June 24, 2019 I don't think we could have asked for a better day to start this great adventure!! After an hour or so of gear checks, bike checks, eating delicious banana bread, and wrestling to get 3-4 bike racks on cars and fully loaded, we were ready to head north by car and van, or should I say caravan--heehee (now that I"ve made a bad pun, I can cross it off on my bike bingo board). Below is the group at Farrell Street Park in South Burlington ready to follow the Champlain Bikeway for miles along a bike path, through valleys, along both empty and busy roads. Today's ride was about 32 miles of many ups and downs, but none too much for this crew!! Our first ice cream stop was at an artisan ice cream shop where some of us had Malibu Barbie Sorbet -- Watermelon Basil. Others had Earl Gray, Mango, or Cinnamon Ice Cream. Here at Button Bay State Park we've enjoyed a quick swim, delicious burrito bowls and as I type this I am serenaded...
