THURSDAY, JUNE 21--CAMP INVADERS
The excitement at this campground started shortly after the tents were set up and dinner was almost made. An incredibly bold raccoon approached the sag wagon looking for food. He/she didn’t give up for quite some time, coming from all angles. I will forever smile every time I think of Nolan jumping up from wherever he was to chase that overweight critter away!
Apparently, they have become quite savvy in their acquisition of human food. Doc and Mr. Bardos awoke many times in the night to deal them. These coons were adept at getting crumbs out of vest pockets, though one of them they had to rip into to get their prize.

Even more amazing was their skill at UNZIPPING the little saddlebags on everyone’s bike. They were all wide open when we awoke!
Somehow they figured out that Advil wasn’t so good; they ripped into Ms. Keefer’s travel med kit on her bike to at least see if they wanted some. Wyatt, make sure you still have your insurance card and phone list! |
As you can see from the paw prints up the back of the truck, they figured out we had plenty of food in the SAG wagon (Taco Truck), but fortunately they never found a way in. We all wonder how the rest of us slept through all their antics, and we are grateful to Doc and Mr. Bardos for waking up to put more items in the truck as they realized how able handed these guys were!!
:) those little critters!
