JUNE 27th HEADING OUT OF THE CITY

We are a well oiled machine at this point.  We asked everyone to be packed, dressed for the ride, and downstairs at breakfast at 7:30.  Many were even early.  After another half dozen baguettes were consumed with cheeses, jams, eggs, etc, we started the task of moving every piece of gear back to it's proper location in the SAG wagons.  We couldn't figure out how to lock the back of the Tasco Truck, so things had been rearranged so that everything could be secure in the parking areas.  If you've read Kirsten's What Is a SAG Wagon blog, you know how much gear that means we rearranged the day we came to the city.  I was amazed at how quickly we were ready to go...brakes readjusted, tires inflated, granola bars in pockets, water bottles full, and sunscreen applied.

We had to walk the first little section from the hostel and again down the steep hill toward the water and the bike path, but then it's been pretty smooth riding on the wonderful Route Vert #1.  Oh wait, I forgot the crossing of the St. Lawrence on the HUGE bridge we had seen from below.  The bike "path" was well separated from the car lanes, but not very wide and OH SO HIGH ABOVE THE WATER!!  It was a long bridge for everyone, especially those of us who aren't too fond of heights!!  After that and a little construction, it really was smooth sailing to lunch where I took over one of the driving duties.  The others probably aren't far behind me!

Enjoy the photos :)  Sorry they are out of order...they change places as I add captions :(

Poke the Dinosaur -- an inside joke with the group!!  Ask Emily...
Stopped by some sort of parade of race cars or something---just after we started riding, we were back at a standstill.
We had no idea we'd be walking for at least 20 minutes to get across this bridge!!  Many of the others rode across, but Emily and I felt much safer walking.  It was a challenge for two who are afraid of heights!!
PHEW!!!  WE MADE IT!!
The front pack decided to document their bridge crossing success, too!
Sometimes it's safer to walk rather than ride on the narrow streets.

Any bike issues and you will hear "BARDOS!!!"
Just a small sample of breakfast!!
Dirty chains make for tough shifting!
