Day 1 by Shannon Fleming

When we departed from the Academy early this morning, we were delighted to see the many people who came to see us off. Not only did we see the support when we left the school, but we saw and felt the continued support from faculty along the way—we saw decorated signs and heard clanging  cowbells as we passed different sections along our route.

The weather today was just fabulous, the sun was out but a slight breeze kept us cool. A lot of people especially enjoyed Swamp Road, a long, shaded, dirt road that led us into the town of Groton. Overall it was a spectacular day and a great start to this trip!
